Vrankovic was speaking at a ministerial meeting on regional energy security held at the initiative of Hungarian Economy Minister Janos Koka. Also in attendance were representatives of Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Romania. The meeting was held within regional cooperation in the building of a safe gas supply strategy.
Bodman informed the participants of the results of his talks at a G-8 ministerial meeting in Moscow on Thursday.
Presenting the guidelines of Croatia's energy policy, Vrankovic highlighted regional cooperation, the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminal and Pan European Oil Pipeline (PEOP) projects, and the construction of additional gas storehouses in Croatia. Bodman said the policy was of outstanding importance for the wider European region, with the other participants in the meeting endorsing it, too.
Participants underlined the need to diversify energy sources and suppliers to upgrade regional energy security. Bodman called on them to also advocate greater energy efficiency.
