ZAGREB, March 17 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament wrapped up this week's sitting on Friday by rejecting a series of bills moved by the opposition.

Among the rejected bills was one on registered partnerships moved by Sime Lucin of the Social Democrats (SDP) and independent MP Ivo Banac, in which they asked for expanding the rights of extramarital and same-sex unions.

MPs also rejected the People's Party (HNS) motion to give income tax revenue to local self-government units as well as a bill of amendments to the Road Safety Act.

Parliament adopted a report on the performance of the Croatian Pension Insurance Bureau's Steering Council and a report on the implementation of the Constitutional Law on the Rights of National Minorities in 2003 and 2004.

MPs adopted a conclusion binding the government to submit by June 30 at the latest a report on the implementation of said law in 2005.

Parliament did not vote on a decision on the holding of military exercises of Croatian and foreign troops in 2006 because of lack of the required two-thirds majority, or 102 votes.

The session will resume on Wednesday.
