The purpose of the initiative is to prevent the extinction of this language, representatives of the Kali Sara association, which promotes the education of the Romany, said at a news conference in Zagreb on Friday.
The conference brought together foreign and Croatian linguists, Romany language professors, reporters, politicians and writers from 19 countries.
They agreed that it was necessary to efficiently lobby in European Union institutions and among Roma associations for the preservation of this language.
November 5 was chosen because on that day in 2008, the first Romany-Croatian and Croatian-Romany dictionary was launched, said Kali Sara president Veljko Kajtazi.
