The dignitary told Hina on Tuesday that the Catholic Church promotes the freedom of opinion and expression but that it also warns of dangers stemming from freedom void of responsibility and ethics.
"Peace and co-existence among people require, among other things, sensibility and respect for others' religious feelings and sacrosanct values," Mrzljak said.
The Croatian weekly Nacional has carried offensive cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad that were initially published in a Danish paper, which has angered Muslims worldwide.
