ZAGREB, Jan 31 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's agriculture
committee on Tuesday supported a draft water management strategy and submitted
it to the parliament for the first reading. During a debate on the
document, Vladimir Stengl of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) warned
that only 76 percent of Croatia was covered by the public water supply network
and that even in the capital of Zagreb not every household had potable
water.
He also pointed to the problem of water losses in the network reaching
a high 46 percent.
