The Committee said that the screening of agriculture and rural development at the current stage had been done well, but also warned that the period of negotiations should be used to restructure the agricultural sector and strengthen its competitiveness, chairman Ivica Racan said.
Asked to comment on the government's statement that it would not sell state-owned real estate, including farmland, but rather grant concessions to use it, Racan said this was one of the ways for Croatia to protect its real estate.
He added that the Committee would discuss the negotiating positions in the autumn, by which time he said much could be done to protect real estate.
