BRUSSELS, Jan 25 (Hina) - The Austrian Presidency of the European
Union on Wednesday organised a ministerial conference on countering violence
against women with an emphasis on traditional practices of sexual mutilation
and forced marriages. The Brussels conference pooled officials of EU
member countries, acceding and candidate countries, including Croatia's Helena
Stimac Radin.
According to the Croatian representative, one of conclusions of the
conference is to encourage as many surveys and data collections so as to
prepare strategies and action plans in a bid to fight female sexual mutilation
and forced marriages and other forms of family violence.
