A press release issued by Bebic's spokeswoman refutes media reports that the then Croatian ambassador to the United States, Neven Jurica, paid for the travel costs of Bebic and his wife and daughter.
Bebic said that he had travelled officially as the parliament's deputy speaker and that the parliament had covered his expenses.
The travel expenses of his daughter, the Croatian Democratic Union's (HDZ) secretary for the Diaspora, were covered by that political party, according to the press release.
Bebic's wife also travelled on that occasion and paid for her own trip, according to the press release.
