In Freedom House's Global Press Freedom Ranking of 195 countries, Croatia shares the 80th place with Bolivia and Montenegro. Of the former Yugoslav countries, only Slovenia ranked better than Croatia, coming 39th. Serbia was ranked 84th, while Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia ranked 98th. The Ranking was topped by Finland, Iceland and Belgium, while Libya, Turkmenistan and North Korea were at the bottom.
The Reporters Without Borders Press Freedom Index listed 168 countries, ranking Croatia 54th, above the United States. Slovenia came 13th, Bosnia and Herzegovina 19th, Macedonia 46th, Serbia and Montenegro both came 48th, while Kosovo was ranked 71st. Finland, Iceland and Ireland topped the list, while Eritrea, Turkmenistan and North Korea were at the bottom.
