NUSTAR, July 16 (Hina) - Belgian Ambassador to Croatia
Marie-Johane Roccas on Monday presented the head of the Nustar municipality
with a certificate confirming that 109,863 square metres of land near Ceric had
been clear of land mines as part of a project which the Belgian government
financed with 150,000 euros. The area cleared of mines is mostly
woods between Nustar and Ceric, which the municipal authorities plan to convert
into an economic zone for hunting and fishing tourism, municipal head Stipo
Tomic said.
Ambassador Roccas said Belgium had been present in Vukovar-Srijem
County since the end of the Homeland War and the beginning of the peaceful
reintegration, given that there were 10,000 Belgian soldiers in the Croatian
Danube River Region, as part of the UN peace keeping forces.
