Speaking to reporters covering Mesic's visit, Parvanov said that "very good opportunities are opening up for even better business contacts and joint ventures and for setting up joint economic institutions" between Bulgaria and Croatia.
The Bulgarian president said that the two countries shared the same political views regarding Southeast Europe and the European Union's policy towards the region.
"That's why I expect the voices of Croatia and Bulgaria to be well heard in the EU when our common problems are discussed, regardless of whether it is security or energy," Parvanov said.
Mesic said that his two-day visit reaffirmed the very good and friendly relations between the two countries.
"From Bulgaria we expect a word of advice as to how best to complete negotiations with the EU, because they have negotiating experience and are willing to help us with everything," the Croatian president said.
Mesic said that his meetings over the last two days focused on ways of promoting cooperation in areas ranging from sport to science to the economy.
Earlier in the day, Mesic met Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Georgi Pirinski. In the evening, Mesic and Parvanov were scheduled to attend a dinner party in the Sheraton hotel in Sofia, after which the Croatian president returns to Zagreb.
