The project, amounting to some 800 million kuna, will be financed with a Development Bank loan in the amount of 320 million kuna, while the rest will be secured from the government budget.
Health and Social Welfare Minister Neven Ljubicic said the project envisaged the construction of a clinic for women's diseases and obstetrics in Split, a polyclinic in Vukovar, a national organ transplantation centre in the Merkur Hospital in Zagreb, and a department for the treatment of breast cancer in the Zagreb Clinic for Tumors.
The government also decided to subsidise the retail price of diesel and blue diesel fuel for small shipping companies operating in the Croatian territorial waters by setting aside 15.5 million kuna from this year's budget.
The government determined local tourist tax for next year, which is to remain at this year's level.
It agreed to pay together with the Varazdin city authorities the rent for a sports hall, to amount to 4.62 million euros annually.
The agreement with Varazdin is identical to the agreement signed with the Zagreb city authorities, said PM Ivo Sanader, announcing the signing of similar agreements with Osijek, Split and Porec.
Sanader said that the agreements with the cities which are to host the 2009 World Handball Championships were the government's contribution to organising the event.
Sanader hopes that construction works on the sports halls would be completed at least one month before the start of the championships.
