ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday afternoon discussed a government-sponsored bill of amendments to the Law on the Execution of Prison Sentence, which was opposed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the
Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), which said that the bill was an attempt to legalise disastrous conditions in prisons and penitentiaries.
ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament on Wednesday
afternoon discussed a government-sponsored bill of amendments to the Law on the
Execution of Prison Sentence, which was opposed by the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) and the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS), which said that the bill was an
attempt to legalise disastrous conditions in prisons and penitentiaries. The parliament briefly discussed amendments to the Law on the Office for
the Suppression of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) that gives USKOK the
power to prosecute corruption crimes.
The parliament supported without debate an annual report of the
Croatian Energy Agency, a report of the National Science Council, a proposal to
ratify the International Convention Against Doping in Sport, a bill of
amendments to the laws on defence and service in the Armed Forces, and several
other bills.
The session will continue on Thursday.
