ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - The Party of Rights (HSP) on Thursday criticised the highest state institutions for delaying the implementation of 2005 parliamentary conclusions on the prosecution of irregularities and unlawful conduct in the privatisation process.

"There is not a single privatisation case which the State Prosecutor's Office requested to be declared null and void," HSP deputy Pero Kovacevic said at a news conference in the parliament headquarters, adding that the HSP had warned about 60 privatisation cases where laws had been violated.

The HSP demands that relevant state institutions submit reports on what they have done to actually reduce corruption.

The news conference was also addressed by representatives of workers and small shareholders from companies whose privatisation was found to have been unlawful, and trade union representatives.

Mario Ivekovic of the New Workers Trade Union, said that the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor had only now tackled what the Croatian public had been discussing for the last 15 years. He added that criminal responsibility for corruption in the privatisation process must not end with several officials of the Croatian Privatisation Fund, but that the ultimate goal should be the confiscation of unlawfully acquired property.

A precondition for that could have been the adoption of an HSP bill on the certification of company ownership, which unfortunately did not meet with a positive response in the parliament, union leaders said.
