The rally was organised by members of the former Liberation Army of Presevo, Medvedje and Bujanovac.
The demonstrators demanded immediate Presevo-Belgrade talks, that Belgrade revoke its decision to arrest former Liberation Army members, stopping Albanians from moving out of the area, that Serbian troops and police withdraw, and that the Albanians' right to self-determination be recognised.
The president of the association of Liberation Army veterans, Lulzim Ibishi, said Belgrade had been familiar with those requests for 15 years and that based on the results of a 1992 referendum, they demanded that Presevo Valley be annexed to Kosovo.
Ibishi called on all international organisations and NATO to send observers to the area.
Present at the rally, which gathered several hundred citizens, were the leaders of only two of the five parties gathering Albanians in southern Serbia, but they did not speak.
The rally passed without incident.
So far, there has been no reaction from Kosovo to the demands stated in Presevo.
