Croatian enterprises generate consolidated profit of HRK 20.5 bln

ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The 2006 consolidated net profit of the Croatian economy, excluding the finance sector, was HRK 20.5 billion, an increase of 17 per cent over the previous year and the best result in the last six years, according to figures from the publication "500 najboljih (The 500 Best)", prepared by the Financial Agency (Fina), Lider business magazine and the Business Research Agency (ZAPI).
ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - The 2006 consolidated net profit of the Croatian economy, excluding the finance sector, was HRK 20.5 billion, an increase of 17 per cent over the previous year and the best result in the last six years, according to figures from the publication "500 najboljih (The 500 Best)", prepared by the Financial Agency (Fina), Lider business magazine and the Business Research Agency (ZAPI).

The total revenue of 78,509 Croatian enterprises was HRK 593 billion, up 15.8 per cent over 2005, while the total expenditure rose 15.6 per cent to HRK 566 billion.

Croatian enterprises generated a total after-tax profit of HRK 31.1 billion, but since at the same time they also generated losses totalling HRK 10.6 billion, the consolidated financial result of the Croatian economy was a net profit of HRK 20.5 billion.

The finance sector registered a total revenue of HRK 21.8 billion, an after-tax profit of HRK 3.6 billion and a loss of HRK 99 million. Insurance companies reported a net profit of HRK 330 million and a loss of HRK 10 million.

Last year 54,132 enterprises operated at a profit, while 23,377 operated at a loss. Small enterprises accounted for 97 per cent of the losses, while the share of large companies in the profits was 46 per cent.
