SARAJEVO, May 24 (Hina) - An association of Bosnian Muslim women from Srebrenica is going to sue the Kingdom of the Netherlands and its defence ministry over the failure of the UN Dutch contingent that was deployed in that eastern Bosnian area in 1995 to prevent atrocities Serb forces committed when they entered Srebrenica while it was a UN safe haven in the summer that year.

The association's representatives on Thursday held a meeting with officials of the Muslim-Croat entity's government.

During their meeting with the Federation's Prime Minister, Nedzad Brankovic, mothers and wives from Srebrenica whose families' members were killed in the summer of 1995, said they were going to file the lawsuit before the International Court of Justice in The Hague on 4 June.

In its verdict regarding Bosnia's genocide lawsuit against the former Federal Republic of Yugoslavia earlier this year, the ICJ established that genocide had been committed by Serb forces in the enclave of Srebrenica and Zepa.

The Court pointed the finger at the military and civilian structures of the Bosnian Serb entity, holding them responsible for the Srebrenica atrocities.

Before it fell into the hands of Serb forces, the Srebrenica enclave was under the protection of the Dutch contingent of the UN Protection Force in Bosnia-Herzegovina (UNPROFOR).
