The German EU presidency last Friday sent the request to this effect to the Croatian Government, after COREPER, the Committee of Permanent Representatives in the European Union consisting of the head or deputy head of mission from the EU member states in Brussels, adopted a report of the European Commission on the screening of Croatia's legislation and practice in the energy sector.
Now the Croatian Government is expected to send its negotiating position and after that EU bodies will start formulating the EU position on this chapter.
With the formulation of the two negotiating positions, the EU and Croatia should then agree on a date for convening an inter-governmental conference at which the European bloc and the aspirasnt for the EU membership open and provisionally close negotiations on policy chapters in concern.
So far, Croatia and the EU have opened negotiations on six policy chapters and two of them have already been provisionally closed.
