BELGRADE, May 14 (Hina) - The Serbian parliament on Monday completed the first reading of a bill on ministries and is to continue its session on Tuesday afternoon, at which it is expected to elect a new government.

The parliament will be addressed on Tuesday by the new prime minister designate, incumbent Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, who will continue to be at the helm of the government following an agreement on the formation of a new government among Kostunica's Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), the Democratic Party (DS) of President Boris Tadic, and the G17 Plus party of Mladjan Dinkic.

Under the bill on ministries, Serbia's new government will have 25 members - a prime minister, a deputy prime minister, 22 ministers and a minister without portfolio.

If the government is not elected by midnight on Tuesday, President Tadic will have to dissolve the parliament and call new elections.
