She however, added that the level of corruption was not as high as perceived in the public. This government is trying to raise the awareness to the point where every individual would know that suppressing corruption depended on the contribution of every citizen, Lovrin said.
According to polls, the most corrupted sectors are health, judiciary, local self government units and political parties and the government has launched strong anti-corruption measures as part of the national corruption prevention programme, Lovrin said.
Interior Minister Ivica Kirin stressed that citizens' cooperation was of critical importance in the process of suppressing corruption.
The seminar was also attended by representatives of local self-government units, the judiciary and other bodies involved in the corruption prevention programme. The event, that will end on Wednesday, is organised by the European Commission's unit for technical assistance in cooperation with the Croatian justice Ministry.
At the seminar, Croatian experts had an opportunity to exchange experience with their colleagues from Italy, Romania and the Netherlands.
