ZAGREB, May 11 (Hina) - An agreement on the construction of a
handball arena in Zagreb's Laniste district is likely to be signed by the
middle of next week if all details of the document are harmonised by then,
Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic said at a news conference on Friday. Legal
experts are still negotiating a draft agreement, Bandic said.
The Arena sports hall would be used as a venue for the World Handball
Championships in 2009 to be hosted by Croatia.
The issue of its construction was raised earlier this month when Mayor
Bandic said that the proposal offered by the Ingra and TriGranit building
companies looked like blackmailing and that the draft contract contained some
unacceptable provisions.
