The Riva, the reconstruction of which cost 62 million kuna, was inaugurated with a procession that started from St. Domnius' Cathedral towards the Franjo Tudjman Square.
Reconstruction works included the placing of modern, environmentally friendly cement blocks covering 14,000 square metres of the waterfront.
The procession and following events drew about 50,000 Split residents.
The religious ceremony was led by Msgr. Nikola Eterovic, the secretary-general of the bishops' synod in the Vatican.
