The association, that held a convention in Zagreb on Saturday afternoon, adopted a conclusion urging the Croatian Government and the Parliament to replace the Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic.
It also insists that Branimir Glavas, a member of parliament, and another indictees in the war crimes case dubbed as the Sellotape case be granted provisional release pending trial, the HVIDR-a leader and a member of parliament, Josip Djakic, told Hina last night.
Djakic said that HVIDR-a had asked Bajic to present a report about how many war criminals, who had been involved in the war against the Republic of Croatia, had so far faced trials.
As the Chief State Prosecutor Bajic did not send us figures, we could not read about it at today's convention, and following a motion of the Osijek branch of the HVIDR-a, we adopted a conclusion on asking for the replacement of the Chief State Prosecutor," Djakic said.
The head of the Osijek HVIDR-a branch, Miljenko Kolobaric, said that the motion was accepted unanimously.
"All 129 deputies who represent the 30,000- strong organisation voted for the proposal of the Osijek HVIDR-a," Kolobaric told Hina.
We hold that it is insulting and inadmissible that the Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic may make it possible for Chetniks and those who opened fire at civilians during the Homeland Defence War to be granted provisional release pending trial while at the same time it is requested that Croatian war veterans including Croatian Army General Branimir Glavas be placed in custody, Kolobaric said.
