The number of persons employed in legal entities was 1,161,751, or 0.4 per cent more than in February and 1.5 per cent more than in March 2006.
The highest employment growth was reported in the hotel and restaurant trade -- 2.2 per cent, and in the real estate sector -- 1.1 per cent.
According to figures from the National Employment Office, there were 291,642 jobless people at the end of March, a decline of 2.4 per cent from February. The registered unemployment rate was 16.6 per cent, or 0.4 per cent down from February when it stood at 17 per cent.
In the total number of the unemployed, 177,675 were women. The registered unemployment rate among women was 21.3 per cent.
