The conference gathered about 200 experts and scientists who discussed water management in national parks, protection of underground and surface water resources, sea pollution in sensitive coastal areas and around islands, and protection of cultural heritage in ancient cities.
Croatia is among the world's 30 countries richest in water resources and this was one of the reasons why it was chosen to host the conference, alongside its engagement and years-long successful involvement in the European Water Association's international activities, said Bojan Zmajic, who headed the committee which organised the event.
