"I expect this government to continue leading Croatia after the election. Whether it will be the present or a slightly different coalition ... Anyway, I expect a victory in the election," Sanader told reporters in Bratislava after talks with Mikulas Dzurinda, Slovak opposition leader and former prime minister.
Asked if he thought his government, like Dzurinda's, could win a second consecutive term of office and take Croatia into the European Union and NATO, Sanader said: "It certainly can."
Sanader said that his government had brought Croatia "substantially closer" to the EU and NATO, and that Croatia's international position was "essentially stronger" than it had been four years ago.
At the end of his day-long official visit, Sanader briefly met Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic in the Presidential Palace.
In the Croatian Embassy, Sanader received representatives of the 3,000-strong Croatian minority in Slovakia and pledged to provide EUR 15,000 in aid for the Museum of Croatian Culture in Devinska Nova Ves, outside Bratislava.
