ZAGREB, March 16 (Hina) - The Croatian government on Friday sent to parliament draft amendments to the law on the government's subsidised housing programme.

Under the amendments, prices of the so-called POS flats will increase 7.7 percent and owners of those flats will not be allowed to sell them in the first ten years since the acquisition.

The minister of construction and urban zoning, Marina Matulovic Dropulic, said that local government units were no longer able to designate building sites for POS flats at lower prices such as 70 euros per square metre because there were no more cheap sites available.

According to estimates from the amendments, the average price of POS flats will increase from the current 910 euros per square metre to 980.

The amendments also stipulate that the state-run National Real Estate Agency, whose acronym is APN, will be involved in making agreements with construction companies and in providing building sites.
