"The rescued men are feeling well. After routine medical check-ups are completed, they will be sent back home on the first available flight," the Ministry said in a statement.
Croatian nationals Renato Garma and Mate Lusa and Montenegrin Milan Smolovic, working for the oil services company Hydrodive, were kidnapped on February 19 from a bar outside their base in the city of Port Harcourt, with the kidnappers demanding a large ransom.
The Ministry was in direct contact with the families of the abducted men all the time and kept them informed about the latest developments and negotiations on a daily basis.
The Croatian ministry agreed with the Montenegrin foreign ministry to fully assume responsibility for the abducted Montenegrin national as well.
The Croatian ministry thanked Nigerian authorities for the successful rescue operation, as well as to US and Austrian diplomats for offering help.
The Hydrodive company, for which the three men worked, played an important role in keeping communication regular, the ministry said.
Reuters reported today that the kidnapped Croatians and Montenegrin national were rescued by the Nigerian military.
Upon receiving information that militants were holding foreign nationals hostage in the area of Ogbakiri, the military searched the area and rescued the hostages, without encountering significant resistance, military spokesman Sagir Musa said.
