Mesic told the press before the closed meeting that he was visiting the bank following its announcement that it would issue loans for Croatia's production and exports.
Mesic said France had always had friendly relations with France and that the integration of its economic subjects with the Croatian economy was welcome.
According to Croatian National Bank figures, France was the biggest investor in Croatia in the first nine months of 2006 with more than a billion euros.
A press release said Splitska Banka was very well managed and had a satisfactory market share. Its clients include 460,000 citizens, 2,000 legal persons and 22,000 entrepreneurs. One of its intentions is to bring more French investors to Croatia.
Attending the meeting were also French Ambassador Francois Saint-Paul and Split County prefect Ante Sanader.
