The 34-year-old Italian was reported missing in early Sunday evening and after that the police started searching for him.
According to preliminary information he died in a land mine explosion in the field called Przine abut 10 kilometres away from the village road. An investigation is under way.
The police also reported that the victim, another two Italians and a Croat trained dogs in Biljani Donji in the early Sunday afternoon until 1400 hrs. After that they dispersed. The other three men had not seen the victim later and at dusk they reported his disappearance which was why the police began searching for him until they found his corpse in Przine at 22:50 hrs Sunday.
This area in the Zadar hinterland used to be held by Serb rebels during the Homeland Defence War in early 1990s.
