In an hour-long talk, Primorac presented changes in the Croatian education system, focusing on the Croatian national education standard, the importance of introducing compulsory secondary school education, and the effects of the Bologna Process on institutions of higher education in Croatia.
The minister also presented the system of funding of the science sector in Croatia, the government's science and technology policy until 2010 and his ministry's programme promoting the return of Croatian scientists from abroad, which attracted special interest.
On the margins on the conference, Primorac met AAAS leaders, including the newly-elected president of the organisation, Nobel laureate David Baltimore, CEO Alan Leshner and former president John Holden. They expressed a common desire that the AAAS should get involved in the development of science and technologies in Croatia.
Primorac also met Ronald Schenkel, director-general of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre.
