ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - Prime Minister Ivo Sanader told the government on Wednesday the operational programme to raise permanent plantations over three years had increased olive groves by 4,000 hectares and olive oil output from 42,000 hectolitres in 2004 to 58,000 in 2006.

Those are good indicators, but we cannot be satisfied because Croatia had much more vineyards and olive groves at the end of the 19th century, said Sanader.

Before joining the European Union we wish to raise, with the state's support, as many vineyards and olive groves as possible, he said, calling on the entire coastal area to take part in the raising of permanent plantations given favourable arrangements through the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the Croatian Agency for Small Business.

Croatia signed the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives on 23 December 2005.

Also today, the government decreed the establishment an Agency for Combating Doping in Sports as a specialised public institutions to monitor and implement international anti-doping conventions.

On that note, the premier congratulated the Croatian handball team on coming fifth at the recent world championships in Germany, and especially on their fair play.

Also today, the government decided on criteria for the allocation of 179 million kuna from revenue of games of chance that this year will go to organisations promoting sports (53.7 million kuna), dealing with the disabled (50.1 million kuna), and other organisations engaged in social, humanitarian and cultural activities.

The government also appointed Tihomil Mastrovic head of the Zagreb National University Library, who will succeed Josip Stipanov on March 1.
