The lawsuit was lodged with the Sisak Municipal Court by lawyer Marko Rafaj on behalf of the town authorities.
The town also seeks damages amounting to 11 million kuna and in case it wins the suit, the funds will be used for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for the early detection of tumors in the local hospital.
Ina has been sued for emissions of dangerous gasses from its oil refinery.
The town does not ask for the closing down of the refinery, but it urges its modernisation so that its products are in accordance with European standards, the deputy mayor, Veljko Novak, told reporters.
