The modernisation project was carried out as part of programmes for the social and economic revival of this formerly war-stricken area in cooperation with the UN Development Programme and the Kingdom of Norway.
Recently the Dutch government joined the programme, allocating 1.8 million euros for this purpose.
The Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb stated on its web site that in 2006 the Norwegian economic support to Croatia amounted to 12.5 million euros. "Furthermore, the Embassy supports civil society projects through its embassy fund amounting to approximately EUR 200,000 yearly."
