The promotion was organised on the occasion of the anniversary of the German-French cooperation agreement of 22 January 1963.
The textbook presents a new model of approach to national histories given that every country and every region perceives their history differently, the French diplomat said, adding that the textbook was a part of a broader project for Europe's common future.
In 2003 the German-French youth parliament launched an initiative for such a textbook, and a group of scholars from the two countries worked for three years on the textbook written in the French and German languages for high schools in the two countries. The book contains views of the two countries on their common history and European history.
