BELGRADE, Jan 17 (Hina) - It is vital for Serbia to have
democratic forces in power after the parliamentary elections on 21 January and
"Romania will unreservedly support Serbia's development and relay to that
country its experience from the road towards the European Union," Romanian
President Traian Basescu said on Wednesday. Serbia will become an EU
member when its citizens and politicians think very well about European
standards and efforts to meet them, the Romanian head of state said in Belgrade
where he met Serbian President Boris Tadic.
I am sure that after the elections Serbia will get a government that
will efficiently promote the country's interest, Basescu added.
After talks with Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica, the
Romanian president said he was sure that the future democratic government would
be able to hold talks on the future status of the UN-administered Kosovo and
on European integration processes.
