Zagorec's lawyer Elisabeth Rech said in the press release that it was untrue that her client had been given disproportionately high loans with insufficient guarantees.
According to the press release, in his business relations with the bank, Zagorec relied on the expertise of the bank's qualified staff and on external consulting agencies such as the KPMG firm.
"He had no influence on decision-making in the bank. Projects were developed in accordance with the rules of the bank and its experts, in cooperation with professional consultants," reads the press release.
Rech underlines that all decisions in the bank were made by the bank's bodies and not by individuals.
Loans were approved following adequate estimates, including estimates of the value of real estate, and the bank and its bodies repeatedly controlled the proceedings, making no objections, the lawyer said.
