"Iustitia et Pax" has expressed its concern over labour rights in many statements, including one last month, and therefore it is not necessary for the commission to give any additional statement on trade unions' requests, the dignitary said.
"It is not true that we have not intervened or called for respect for labour rights so far, but we feel no need to intervene in concrete actions as this one (led by unions)," Kosic said.
The commission's secretary, Gordan Crpic, said trade unions had never supported any statement on labour rights given by the commission.
He reiterated that the Church in principle distanced itself from any action aimed at concrete political effects, including the ongoing campaign by trade unions.
