Simonovic informed Costa about the reform of the Croatian judiciary and the problem of prison overcrowding and plans to solve it.
The minister spoke about the implementation of alternative sanction programmes, including community service and probation on which the Croatian authorities are working intensively, reads a press release issued by the Justice Ministry.
In this context, Simonovic announced the introduction of independent supervisors to monitor the operation of prisons.
Simonovic and Costa also tackled the problem of Ljubljanska Banka's debt to its Croatian clients.
The minister expressed confidence that the European Court of Human Rights would eventually bring a ruling on the merit of the dispute after it had already decided on the Kovacic case regarding the same issue but had not made a decision on the merit of the problem.
