A Croatian daily on Thursday reported that Croatia lost a Brigadier General position in a NATO command due to Slovenia's objections.
"Slovenia has never objected to any of Croatia's positions and Croatia has not been denied any position. It has been given its place in NATO's structure," Major General Lovric, who is Croatia's military representative to NATO, said in response to questions from the press.
"(That Slovenia complained) is misinformation," Lovric said at the news conference which was held on the occasion of Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola's visit to the Croatian Military Academy.
The process of harmonising views on who will step into that office has not been completed, but there were no objections from Slovenia, Lovric added.
Admiral Di Paola said he could confirm Lovric's statement, and added that NATO member states were cooperating well in all fields.
The Croatian army chief-of-staff, General Josip Lucic, said that Croatia could be proud of entering NATO which he described as one of the most important organisations in the world.
The Italian admiral said that the fact that Croatia would become a full member of the alliance at its summit in Strasbourg and Kehl in a week's time was a great achievement of the Croatian military and people.
He praised Croatia for having been a very good partner to NATO in the last ten years and for contributing to the alliance's activities, including its engagement in Afghanistan.
The admission of Croatia to NATO is a great moment for Croatia as well as for NATO and the international community, he said.
