Speaking at a news conference, Agov, who headed a NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation on a visit to Croatia, expressed satisfaction with having been in Croatia when its parliament ratified the North Atlantic Treaty.
Agov reiterated that it was a historic moment and that this was the first time NATO Parliamentary Assembly members attended this procedure in the parliament of an acceding country.
The Croatian Parliament (Sabor) ratified the document on 25 March, thus bringing to conclusion the process of Croatia's legal accession to the alliance, since by depositing its document on accession to the Treaty in Washington, Croatia will formally become a full member of the alliance.
The Treaty was ratified by 119 MPs, with only one independent MP voting against.
Kresimir Cosic, the head of the Sabor's delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, told today's news conference that Croatia was completely ready to take on obligations stemming from NATO membership.
Croatia and Albania are to attend the forthcoming summit of the alliance in Strasbourg and Kehl as full members.
