BELGRADE, June 14 (Hina) - A memorial plaque in tribute to Mileva Maric Einstein, a physicist of Serb descent and the first wife of Albert Einstein, was unveiled at the Nordheim cemetery in Zurich on Sunday by officials of the Serbian
ministry for expatriates' affairs, the Belgrade-based electronic media reported.
BELGRADE, June 14 (Hina) - A memorial plaque in tribute to Mileva
Maric Einstein, a physicist of Serb descent and the first wife of Albert
Einstein, was unveiled at the Nordheim cemetery in Zurich on Sunday by
officials of the Serbian ministry for expatriates' affairs, the Belgrade-based
electronic media reported. The plaque was set up at the cemetery
where Mileva Maric's grave was discovered in 2003.
On December 19, 1875, Mileva Maric was born into a wealthy family in
Titel, in the province of Vojvodina, then a part of the Austro-Hungarian
Empire, today in the Republic of Serbia.
In 1903 Maric and Einstein married in Bern, Switzerland, and the couple
divorced in 1919.
Maric died in 1948.
