Autor: mses
ZAGREB, May 7 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor on Friday held talks with a visiting delegation of the International Monetary Fund, headed by Zuzana Murgasova, the government's public relations office said in a statement.

The talks focused on the government's Economic Recovery Programme and the road map for its implementation, which the government adopted on Thursday.

Kosor informed the IMF delegation that the main objective of the programme was to ensure economic recovery and render the country's economy competitive.

The linchpin of the plan is to create an entrepreneurial environment by implementing necessary reforms in the public sector, the premier said.

She also outlined three bailout models which her cabinet launched in a bid to strengthen the economy.

Kosor informed the delegation that the government would prepare legislation on financial responsibility which was expected to be adopted later this year.

She acquainted the delegation with the measures the government was taking in its anti-corruption drive.

Murgasova said she appreciated all measures the government was taking in order to strengthen the economy, describing them as an important signal to potential investors.

She also expressed full support for the implementation of the bailout measures, according to the statement.

The IMF mission arrived in Zagreb on 28 April for regular consultations, held annually with each member-country under Article IV of the IMF's Articles of Agreement.

The purpose of the visit is for the mission to gain a direct and detailed insight into current economic and financial developments, as well as to obtain information about monetary and fiscal policy projections for the forthcoming period and measures designed to help overcome the crisis and enable economic recovery, the Croatian National Bank reported upon the delegation's arrival.
