MARIJA BISTRICA/SINJ, Aug 15 (Hina) - Tens of thousands of Croatians
flocked into Marian shrines throughout the country on the Assumption
of the Virgin Mary on Saturday and during religious ceremonies
high-ranking dignitaries spoke about the importance of the possibility
for the faithful to exercise their religious rights in the public in
reference to Croatian President Stjepan Mesic's recent proposals that
religious insignia such as crucifixes should be removed from public
and state institutions.
