The Lipovljanski Susreti programme, organised by the National Minorities Council, consists of concerts and presentations of cultural and traditional customs of national minorities.
The Canadian Ambassador to Croatia, Daniel Maksymiuk, underscored that the gathering nurtures values that Canada, too, promotes. We are proud of that and believe that we are creating a better and more beautiful world that is rich in diversity, he said.
Maksymiuk said that the vast majority of Canadians believe in diversity and its importance in economic development and that multiculturalism is a common value of Canada and Lipovljani.
The capital city Zagreb this year again made a donation of HRK 150,000 to help organise the event.
Lipovljani is known for being a multicultural environment populated, apart from Croats, by 13 national minorities (Slovaks, Ukrainians, Czechs and others).
