The head of Split-Dalmatia County, Blazenko Boban, said at the opening ceremony that all products specific to the county, including olive oil, wines and various delicacies, could be seen at the fair.
Deputy mayor Nino Vela said that the city would support such events financially and organisationally to promote and improve tourism-related services.
The organisers said that this was the biggest and best HORECA (hotel/restaurant/cafe) event in the region.
The show, which closes on February 10, will include various supporting events such as a cooking show, organised visits to hotel chains, a ladies' bartender competition, and lectures on various topics.
A regional forum on family tourism, organised by the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, will also be held.
