The symposium was organised by the Vukovar General Hospital and attended by those who participated in the reintegration of health care in the Croatian Danube River region.
Hospital administrator Vesna Bosanac recalled that health workers had waited five years in exile to return to Vukovar, which began in July 1996, with 50 returning by the end of the year, including doctors and residents.
She recalled that the reconstruction of the hospital began in 1998 and that HRK 245 million had been invested in it so far, including via a Council of Europe loan. Reconstruction is expected to be completed next year, she said, adding that the Vukovar General Hospital has 620 employees, including 450 health workers.
