The employment rate, which shows the proportion of employed people in the working-age population, was 47.5% in the third quarter of 2017, an increase of 1.5 percentage points over the previous quarter and of 1.8 percentage points over the third quarter of 2016.
At the same time, the unemployment rate fell to 9.0% from 11.0% in the second quarter of 2017 and 10.9% in the third quarter of 2016.
The survey showed that in the third quarter of 2017 Croatia had a working-age population of 3.544 million, of whom 1.849 million were active and 1.695 million inactive.
The size of the working-age population, people aged 15 and over, decreased by 4,000 from the second quarter of 2017 and by 19,000 from the third quarter of 2016.
Compared with the third quarter of 2016, the size of the inactive population decreased by 39,000 and the size of the active population fell by 20,000.
The activity rate, which represents a percentage of the active population in the working-age population, was 52.2% in the third quarter of 2017, up from 51.3% in the same period of 2016.
