Addressing an HAZU meeting, academician Kusic said 407 events had been held at HAZU this year, including conferences, round tables, book launches, exhibitions, lectures, award ceremonies, film showings, concerts and commemorations.
"Numerous conferences dedicated to current Croatian society issues were held. The Modernisation of Law cycle discussed the legal regulation of waste management, civil and criminal matters in environmental protection, the legal protection of air, constitutional judiciary and property law regulations," Kusic said.
He recalled that HAZU had held a round table on why vaccination had no alternative and numerous conferences and lectures on the treatment and prevention of illnesses and health problems.
Kusic noted that a series of lectures had been organised together with the Croatian Science Foundation at which research projects were presented.
Conferences were also held on the Ploce-Vukovar intermodal corridor and border issues as well as lectures on Croatia's timber and air industries, economic development possibilities through smart specialisation, and the inclusion of Croatia's science and industries in the development of space technology, he said.
Kusic noted that HAZU members had actively participated in a debate on the draft curriculum reform, on which the HAZU Presidency too weighed in.
Kusic said HAZU had issued a number of press releases, on the 15th anniversary of Croatia's international recognition, Holocaust Remembrance Day, the 50th anniversary of the Croatian language declaration, the adoption of the "common language" declaration, the arbitration ruling on the border dispute with Slovenia, World Teachers' Day, and the Hague war crimes tribunal's ruling in the Prlic et al. case.
