The event, which draws about 120,000 visitors annually, will stay open until 14 January, daily from 3 pm to 9 pm.
The estate, located in Bjelovar-Bilogora County, this year is lit up by 500,000 more lights than last year. The event features stalls selling food and wine, a crafts fair, an exhibition of characters from fairy tales and cartoons, an outdoor nativity scene, a fireworks display, 1,700 illuminated trees, and other novelties.
This year, the event will include a large nativity scene and singing Christmas lights which will play traditional songs.
Every year, more and more people visit this fairy tale, so the Salaj family has expanded the promenade and employed more animators than last year. Visitors will also be welcomed by a large Advent Village, where those who are hungry and thirsty will have a chance to try the specialities of local producers.
There will also be an ice rink where the youngest will be able to demonstrate their skating skills.
The Salaj family started decorating their farm with Christmas lights 16 years ago. Thanks to the great effort and enthusiasm of the family members, over time it has become one of the most significant events in continental Croatia. State institutions, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of the Economy, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Bjelovar-Bilogora County Tourist Board and local government units have also recognised the importance and role of this project and financially supported the Salaj Christmas Fairy Tale.
